Dom and Cody got married! Woo!
#13 Motley Crue & Kiss
Surprisingly, I enjoyed Kiss more than Motley Crue. Motley Crue felt a bit forced, whereas Kiss seemed to really be enjoying themselves. Loved the part where Paul flew to his B Stage!
#12 Soundwave - Adelaide
This Soundwave was bittersweet, I felt so sad knowing that our friends would be leaving straight after they played. Boo. We managed to actually see Gallows this time, but it’s not the same without Frank! I also got indigestion which always puts a damper on things. Polar Bear Club were extra good today!
#11 Soundwave - Melbourne
Not keen on the Racecourse - it was so confusing and took us so long to orientate ourselves!
#9 Madball & Sick of it all - The Espy
Stace did her first stage dive during SOIA’s set! Some giant man stood in front of me, but Mike asked him to move. Sometimes being a short girl has it’s perks!
#10 Cancer Bats - The Reverance Hotel
We were 3 of about 20 people watching This Is Hell, NO ONE was into it. I would’ve felt sad for them, if it weren’t for the fact that the singer was kind of a dick.
The room was SO packed. It wasn’t the best time that I’d seen them, mostly because we were RIGHT down the back. Apparently snacks also sounds like sex to the American/Canadian ear - oops!
#8 Madball and Sick of it all - Factory Theatre, Sydney
Madball’s set was identical to what they played at Soundwave, but this included Look My Way so who can complain!?
Stacey and Tania nearly had their heads taken off so many times by Pete swinging his guitar around! Still amazes me that he never loses his balance or falls over.
#7 Polar Bear Club - Factory Theatre, Sydney
After dinner in Newton with Lou and Tania, Stace and I quickly cabbed it over to the venue and made it JUST in time. It was weird being surrounded by teenage girls, as this show was actually the All Time Low sideshow… Although the bright side is that there weren’t very many tall people and I could actually see! I’m guessing they played the same set as what they played at Soundwave, as the last songs were the same. In between songs the singer snacked on a banana…
I fucking love this band, and wanted more! It went by so fast.
#6 Soundwave Sydney
SOIA didn’t arrive until lunchtime, so after meeting Lou and having a catch up we’d missed Gallows.
It was so great to see Shai Hulud after missing them in LA. They started with For The World, and ended with Misanthropy Pure, which couldn’t have been a better beginning and end for me!
Madball RULED. The sun came out, and then it rained, but I couldn’t be happier and it reminded me why I love this band so much. I was so stoked they played Look My Way!
We then ran to see Cancer Bats quickly, and then back to stage 6 for Sick Of It All. They were so much fun as always, and it was nice to see them with Stace.
My legs at this point were feeling like jelly, but we made it back to see the end of Polar Bear Club. It wasn’t super packed for them, and there was a gap where a giant mud puddle was, which meant I could see! They ended with The Redder The Better which was a REALLY nice surprise.
We also watched Fucked Up, while stuffing our faces. The site felt really deserted, and as we got to the main stages, I realised where all the people were! We watched Blink 182 from the seats, but felt disconnected as we were so far away, and I had just spent the last 3/4 hours having the time of my life and dancing about, I was pretty tired.
I thought to myself so many times, I fucking love this band. Really great day.
#5 Carole King - The Plenary - 18th Feb 2013
I honestly went to this show because Carole sang the Gilmore Girls theme song and was in a few episodes. So glad that I went because she played THE song! It was a bit emotional.
